We’re looking for ILCAWA Nationals Coaches!
ILCAWA is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced coaches to support the WA ILCA Team attending the 2027 Australian ILCA Nationals in Melbourne in late December-January.
Scope of Role
Pre-Nationals preparation and planning.
On-water coaching in Melbourne before the event.
Support during measurement, registration and official practice, where relevant.
Daily team briefings and debriefings during the regatta.
Race preparation, strategy, conditions analysis and fleet-specific support.
Supporting sailors across ILCA 4, ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 fleets.
Working collaboratively with the ILCAWA Committee, team manager, sailors and parents.
Contributing to a positive, professional and supportive WA team environment.
Requirements:
Must have a strong ILCA sailing knowledge and relevant experience supporting performance-focused youth and open sailors at State, National or comparable regattas.
Coaches must be available to travel to, or be present in, Melbourne with the WA team and provide coaching support before and during the Nationals competition.

Coaching Qualifications: Australian Sailing or equivalent qualifications, other relevant accreditations, WWCC, First Aid and Powerboat Qualifications.
ILCA Background: ILCA sailing and coaching experience, fleets coached, and experience at State, National or International events.
Nationals Availability: Availability to travel to Melbourne in December 2026 to January 2027 including availability before the regatta.
Coaching Approach: Coaching style, how the coach would support a mixed WA team across ILCA 4, 6 and 7, and key preparation priorities.
Costs and Logistics: Proposed fee or day rate, travel/accommodation support required, RIB or other equipment needs, and willingness to discuss a subsidised or partially funded arrangement.
Referees: 1-2 referees from a sailing, coaching or club context.
