ILCAWA awards Life Membership to people in recognition of their qualities of integrity, sailing experience, involvement with the association and length of service.

Andrew ‘Andy’ Whittell

Andy started sailing as a junior at RPYC in Pelicans in 1964, then sailed a variety of dinghies including a 16ft Skiff (1968-1975), Laser (1975-1990), Heron (1990-1995), Signet (1995-1998), various trailable yachts (2000-2010) and a Laser (2011-2025). In 1980, Andy won the WA Laser State Championships. In 2010 he joined DBYC to help establish a laser fleet and was Rear Commodore of DBYC (2010-2013). Andy has also been a very active member of the Laser Association since 1975, including President in (1983-1985), organising the 1985 Laser Nationals in Busselton, the 2015 Laser States in Busselton, then has been a committee member since 2013 holding various positions such as Secretary (2017-2019), Website and Administration Support (2017-2025) and from 2023 Treasurer.

Colin Dibb

Colin is a highly accomplished sailor who has been sailing since 1974. He has taken out first place in 7 WA Laser Championships, 1 Australian Master Championship, 2 Australian Grand Master Championships, 1 Asia Pacific Master Championship, 2 World Laser Master Championships and 1 World Grand Master Championships. He was also WA Sailor of the year in 2005.
